Come Festive seasons, it is time to prepare sweets so this Diwali, I decided to make Besan Laddoo. I added Mawa to further enhance the taste. Besan Ladoos are Chickpea flour balls roasted in ghee until aromatic , sweetened and then garnished with nuts. Since this contains Mawa, this must be consumed within 3 days. You can prepare this laddoos without mawa too. I added it for additional flavor and taste

These ladoos are generally prepared on special occasions, however you can make them whenever you wish to have a light Indian sweet, since it doesn’t take much time to prepare. These ladoos are indeed delightful and mouth watering in taste

Preparation time: 10 mins Cooking time: 15 mins Total time: 25 mins

Servings: 3


  • 1/2 cup Besan (Gram Flour/Chickpea Flour)
  • 1/2 cup Mawa/Khoya (Milk Solids)
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp chopped cashews
  • 1/4 cup ghee (Clarified butter)
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder

Steps to prepare

  • Melt Ghee in a pan, add cashews

  • Roast cashews until golden brown and keep it aside
  • Add Besan in same pan . Roast besan until golden brown and aromatic
  • Add Mawa/khoya and mix well for 3-4 minutes
  • Add powdered sugar and mix
  • Add milk and mix well

  • Add cardamom and mix well
  • Add nuts and mix well

  • Allow mixture to cool. Grease your palms and shape mixture into balls
  • Store in airtight container and use within 3 days. Serve as required
