Jeera rice is easy to make, flavorful and delicious in taste. This can also be made with left over rice . This is often matched with Dal fry as a perfect combination for main course , be it any party /occasion or regular day. This can also be served with any creamy based curries/gravies but Dal fry and Jeera rice are the perfect combos to each other

Ingredients
- 1 cup Basmati rice/Jeera rice
- 2 cups water
- 1 bay leaf
- 1-2 tbsp ghee/clarified butter
- 1 teaspoon jeera/cumin seeds
- 4-5 cloves
- 1 inch cinnamon stick
- 1 green chili, finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 tbsp chopped coriander leaves/Cilantro
Steps to prepare
- Clean and soak rice in water for 30 minutes

- Drain excess water and keep it aside

- Heat ghee in a pan

- Add in bay leaf, cloves, cinnamon, cumin seeds to the pan
- Dry roast spices until aromatic and cumin seeds splutter

- Add finely chopped green chilies

- Add drained cleaned rice to the pan

- Saute for 2-3 minutes over medium heat

- Add water to the pan

- Add salt. Mix well

- Simmer, cover and cook until rice is done and all water has evaporated from the pan

- Gently fluff rice with fork without breaking the grains
- Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with Dal fry r any gravy of your choice
