Every time we have Sprouts with us, we thinks about making salads. Move over salads as this kadhi is equally delighting, nutritious and good for health conscious folks. Easy to make , this can be consumed with brown rice or rotis. Now healthy need not be boring, it can be equally delectable, interesting and delicious in taste

Preparation time: 8 mins Cooking time: 20 mins, Total time: 28 mins

Servings: 3-4


  • 1 cup Mixed sprouts
  • 11/4 cup low fat yogurt
  • 13/4 cups water
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 teaspoon Oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1-2 teaspoon finely chopped green chilies
  • 3-4 tbsp besan (Chickpea) / rajgira flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 pinch hing /asafoetida
  • 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
  • 2 red chilies broken
  • 1/4 teaspoon red chili powder

Steps to cook

  • Heat oil in pressure cooker
  • Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds in hot oil and allow it to splutter
  • Add red chilies, ginger and hing. Saute for few seconds
  • Add green chilies and saute for few seconds
  • Add sprouts and mix well
  • Add in spice powders
  • Add 1.5 cups water and salt. Mix well
  • Now pressure cook for 3-4 whistles over medium heat until sprouts are cooked
  • Meanwhile whisk yogurt in a bowl
  • Add remaining water and besan. You can add other gluten free flours too in place of besan for making it more nutritious
  • Whisk well until well combined and lump free
  • Once steam is naturally released, open the lid of pressure cooker
  • Add in whisked yogurt mix and mix well , cook over low medium heat
  • Simmer the heat, cover and cook for 15 minutes
  • Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot
